(PSUN) Anaheim, CA-(Business Wire)-Feb 26, 2003-Pacific Sunwear of California Inc (Nasdaq:PSUN) today announced that Heidi Muther has been promoted to the position of vice president of merchandising for d.e.m.o. and that Eric Plyler has been promoted to vice president of stores for d.e.m.o.
Muther joined Pacific Sunwear in July of 1996 as young men's buyer for PacSun. She has held the positions of senior buyer at both PacSun and d.e.m.o. In July of 1999, Muther was promoted to the position of divisional merchandise manager for d.e.m.o. In April of 2001 she was transferred to the PacSun division as divisional merchandise manager. In November of 2001, she was moved back to d.e.m.o. as divisional merchandise manager. As vice president of merchandising for d.e.m.o., Muther will be responsible for all merchandising at d.e.m.o. including branded and private label merchandise. Muther reports to Tim Harmon, president and chief merchandising officer. Prior to joining Pacific Sunwear, Muther held various merchandising positions at Robinsons-May Co., from 1989 to 1996, including that of buyer. Heidi has been instrumental in leading the d.e.m.o. merchant team in executing the merchandise strategy. The recent results reflect a lot of hard work by her and the team." Plyler joined Pacific Sunwear in May of 2000 as regional manager for PacSun and was responsible for store operations at approximately 110 stores in the northeast part of the United States. In July 2001, Plyler was transferred to the d.e.m.o. division and promoted to the position of director of stores for d.e.m.o. Plyler is responsible for store operations at the 107 d.e.m.o. stores located in 24 states and Puerto Rico. Plyler reports to Greg Weaver, chairman and chief executive officer. Prior to joining Pacific Sunwear, Plyler held various management positions in retail, including vice president of stores while at Claire's Stores Inc from 1990 to 1999. Weaver stated: "Eric Plyler is a very skilled and experienced store operations retailer who has a passion about the d.e.m.o. business. In the past year, Eric has raised the in-store standards and consistency at d.e.m.o. which has been an important ingredient in improving the d.e.m.o. business." d.e.m.o. is a mall-based retail concept that the company launched four years ago. The merchandise inspiration is hip-hop music and the personalities, brands and lifestyle associated with hip-hop. There are 107 d.e.m.o. stores in operation as of Feb. 26, 2003.
